Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. Nantucket HS School

Game Date
May 11, 2017
Score
: 8
NANTUCKET HIGH SCHOOL: 12

The game started off with a bang with freshman Sophie Cook (1 goal, 2 SOGs) at center. Both teams fought to get the ball into their offensive end. Nantucket was the first to score and followed suit quickly with two more goals. Despite a wrist injury, Rachel Kilduff (2 goals, 2 assists, 2 SOGs) led the Navs offense with her lefty shots and relentless work around the net. Captain Chloe Bass also followed up (2 goals, 1 assist) and West was making a comeback! Sinead Dolan (2 goal, 2 SOGs) worked literally nonstop to force turnovers and put the ball in the offensive end. At  halftime the score was 8-6 and things looked promising for the Navs. The Whalers came out of half-time recharged and scored two goals quickly putting more distance between themselves and the Navigators. Danielle Gavin (1 goal 3 SOGs) surprised the Whalers with her signature "dirty" crease roll. Captain Brigid Morrison (1 goal, 2 assists, 4 SOGs) attacked the net on several drives for the Navs and little sis Ciara Morrison (4 SOGs) also worked hard in the critical shooting area to make plays happen.  Lily Healy, Aradia Jacobson, and Sarah Gavin also played great offense and defense at midfield working hard on transitions and forcing several turnovers. On the defensive end, Taylor Vasta, Gabriella Boucher, Julianna Foresteire, Kerry O'Brien, and Isabella Sweeney had their work cut out for them, as in the second half the ball was in our defensive end for the majority of the half. Our amazing goalie, sophomore Bri Sigel had a record 12 saves in Net!!! Overall it was a great game and our girls played well. Although there were some sad faces in our huddle last night, I am proud of our players and we have come a long way in our relatively young lacrosse program.  The final score was 12-8 Nantucket and our record is 4-4 and we face Cape Cod Academy at home on Tuesday
